Almost 25 years ago, Jeff Conner made a leap of faith and chose to begin manufacturing weight room equipment. He’d been in the business for over 10 years, and noticed that strength coaches could be best served in two big ways: by insisting upon only the best quality in materials and methods on the manufacturing floor and by employing individuals with a passion for not only strength and conditioning, but for serving the coaches and athletes they would work with every single day.

The mission was clear: Create functional, strength training equipment that could be customizable, stand up to harsh use taking place under demanding circumstances, and ultimately, create a strength and conditioning experience like no other equipment out there. After more than two decades, the goal remains the same. It’s about powerful ideas for powerful people.

Today, universities performing at the most elite levels in all sports headline Power Lift’s list of satisfied customers, with institutions like University of Iowa, Iowa State University, University of Northern Iowa, Alabama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida and UCLA each claiming Power Lift as strength equipment supplier. But you don’t have to be a Power 5 football program to enjoy the benefits of Power Lift’s equipment. A large number of high school programs, both large and small, also use Power Lift, because they demand the best not only of their student-athletes, but of their equipment, as well.

From Concept to Completion, Power Lift’s team has perfected the process for helping strength coaches realize their goals for their weight rooms. Here’s how it works:

Planning –Taking your athletic facility from concept to completion may present internal and external challenges. Power Lift seeks to create a seamless process from planning through implementation. With more than 80 years combined experience in designing strength and conditioning facilities across the country, Power Lift’s employees have seen it all. But their dedication to the customer’s needs allows them to work with architects, planning committees and other decision makers throughout the process to identify and sidestep common obstacles.

Evaluation –At the outset of any athletic facility design,Power Lift’s primary focus is to listen, to learn and to communicate with your team to understand your goals for your unique weight room. Together, Power Lift and your team evaluate and define your vision for your specific facility to understand your project’s scope, your facility’s size, your population of users, and the weight equipment layouts that best reflect your vision.

Facility Design –After establishing concrete goals and needs in the evaluation stage, Power Lift works closely with the decision makers you’ve assigned to the various aspects of your project (architects, planning committees, coaches, athletic directors, etc.) to advance your project into the layout phase.

Layout –To visualize the layout and look of your athletic facility, Power Lift deploys a two-phased, CAD-driven layout process geared specifically for your project. Using two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) graphics, this process helps your team understand where weight equipment will be placed and how it will look in your space. The first layout — a flat 2D blueprint — shows where in the weight room your equipment will be located. Upon approval, they develop and provide a 3D layout that showcases colors, logos, and other details that bring your vision to life.

Implementation –After the Power Lift team walks you through the process, from evaluation to design and layout, it’s time for implementation. Power Lift’s specialists work hand-in-hand with your team to guarantee that the final product reflects your program’s goals. With manufacturing facilities located in Jefferson, Iowa, Power Lift builds equipment to order — here in the USA — using high quality materials, including structural steel and other premium components. Quality, durability and safety are the standards by which Power Lift measures its success, standards familiar to top strength and conditioning coaches across the world.

From its manufacturing capabilities, to its customer-centric implementation process to its dedicated and driven staff of industry professionals, Power Lift designs its innovative weight equipment with the athlete in mind. The company and its employees take enormous pride in their ability to outfit athletic facilities based on each program’s unique goals. That’s why programs across the country have chosen Power Lift — again and again — to help maximize their strength training facilities and build championship-caliber athletes.
